Product Engineering & R&D

Work alongside engineers on medical device development, including mechanical engineering, product development, prototyping, testing, test fixtures, design reviews, and R&D. Depending on the opening, opportunities may also involve electrical, software, or robotics work.

Contribute to manufacturing engineering, process improvement, production support, automation, operational projects, and supply chain work that helps move products from design through manufacturing and delivery.

When does the internship program run, and when should I apply?

Our core internship program runs over the summer, with orientation in late May and final presentations before the program wraps in August. We typically begin posting internship opportunities in September and recruiting can continue through January, with interviews and offers extending into February. Students are encouraged to apply early. Co-op placements can follow a different timeline, including January through June or July through December.

What does the internship experience include?

In addition to project work, interns participate in a structured program that can include orientation, a welcome gathering with company leadership, Snack & Learn sessions, design reviews, a resume workshop, a summer outing, and final presentations to the company.

Where are internships located?

Our U.S. internship program is based on-site at Lexington Medical, Inc.’s headquarters in Bedford, Massachusetts, in the Greater Boston area. Our Bedford location brings engineering, manufacturing, and other teams together in the same facility.

Do interns have a path to full-time roles?

Yes. Several current full-time employees began at Lexington Medical, Inc. as interns, and some interns return for additional summers before converting to full-time roles.

Spend Your Summer Just Outside Boston

Our headquarters, where engineering, R&D, and manufacturing all work together, is in Bedford, Massachusetts, about 20 miles from Boston and within easy reach of Cambridge and the Route 128 corridor. Interns have plenty of opportunities to experience the city through its sports, museums, historic sites, and other attractions. Many take advantage of accessible public transportation or the short drive into downtown Boston to explore.
